I got new buttons! I found full cards of the buttons below, so I am in button heaven. They look good enough to eat. Watch my shop for some fab vintage button jewelry made from these gems.
So I recently joined Swap Bot because I wanted to participate in some of these great swaps that I read about. My standards might be a bit too high......
When I am creating something for someone, I put a LOT of thought into it and I take a lot of time completing it....AND packaging is a big deal for me. Of course, I am the button queen but when you enter into a button swap, wouldn't you expect to get something other that plain little shirt buttons? I received a completely squashed matchbox of crappy shirt buttons....WTF!
I think I will stick to watching for cool swaps through blogs that I like and forget about swap bot.
Here are the matchboxes of buttons I created for my most recent swap.....
I survived the setup and pre-show yesterday, but there were not many attendees on Thursday night. I was also way out of my league as far as displays go. I really, REALLY have to put more work into my booth display. I did purchase some kick-ass junk for my display at the show to use in future shows. I also learned a lot from my booth mate Artsy Mama. She totally rules, had the best display ever and is super talented .........I hate her! Just kidding of course, she's the nicest person on the planet.
I love the whole craft community and the blogging community. I have met so many fabulous people since I started "The Junk In My Trunk".
Today was GREAT! Until about 1pm and then everyone disappeared? What the heck? So here's hoping that tomorrow is busy all day long and that Artsy Mama and myself leave with our pockets stuffed with money.
Here is my sub-par booth and a bad picture of Artsy Mama's fab booth. I had a hard time getting any good photos. My sign has grommets and is meant to be hung, but they would not let me pound any nails in the walls?? Go figure....
Oh, and today was also me and my husband's 5 year wedding anniversary....and I forgot. Worst.Wife.Ever.
The Karma gods are smiling on me today! I've been taking excellent care of my husband since he came home and today I sold 7 pieces from my Etsy shop. A big day for vintage button jewelry I guess.
I've also been working on my swap projects from Swap Bot and trying to get some photos taken for flickr and blogging.
Tomorrow I need to drop off items for the "A Stitch in Time Saves". This is a craft sale benefit for the 35W bridge collapse victims. All proceeds will go to the Bridge Disaster Fund. Here's some info: SHOP, SHOP, SHOP!!! Please join us at Grumpy's Downtown on September 6. Doors will open at 6:00 p.m. for crafty shopping goodness!
And, as if I were not busy enough....I am participating in the Junk Bonanza this weekend. Click here for more details.
Here are some neat photos from recent shopping adventures:
The Coolest Vintage NAPCO Asian Figures - Ebay score!
I got some new buttons, so that means......a photoshoot! I love taking pictures of my buttons, is that totally crazy? I also love taking pictures of my vintage pottery pieces. Today I also played around in photoshop and created some neat effects.....but that's a different post altogether. I also took some pictures of my new vintage button necklaces for the shop. I am really happy with how they came out. I would totally wear one....tee hee. I'm SUCH a dork.
So, here are the buttons (with some of my new fabric).
